Princess Aiko, eldest daughter of the Emperor and Empress, joined the Japanese Red Cross Society. She answered questions in writing from the Imperial Press Association.
Aiko: I became particularly interested in volunteer work after seeing volunteers who go to disaster-stricken areas. She will be working as a part-time employee at the JRCS, but would be happy if she could get a variety of experiences, including volunteer work, which she was originally interested in, as well as being exposed to a range of Red Cross activities.
