The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is “surprised” by the growth of the Russian economy. In January, the IMF predicted growth of 2.6 percent for Russia in 2024 - 1.5 percentage points more than was expected in the fall.

The Russian economy has a high proportion of military spending, which stimulates production. However, we are currently also seeing signs of an “overheating of the economy” – such as an increase in inflation. The IMF expects growth of 1.1 percent for the coming year.
