In 2023, the total amount of global debt reached a record high, according to a study by the American Institute of International Finance. Over the past ten years, the value has grown by almost $100 trillion.

The growth of the indicator has accelerated noticeably since 2020, after the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Experts note the most significant debt burden in Japan, Great Britain, China, Europe and the USA. In Russia, debt indicators remain among the lowest in the world.
