Spring labor unions at three major steel companies demand monthly wage increase of 30,000 yen, highest level in 50 years. This demand is the highest level of about 50 years since 1975, when prices rose due to the oil crisis.

Labor unions at major heavy industry companies such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and IHI are seeking a monthly wage increases of 18,000 and 15,000 respectively. The labor unions of Nippon Steel, JFE Steel, and Kobe Steel, have compiled a policy proposal.
