Solar manufacturer Meyer Burger stops module production in Germany. Europe's solar industry is fighting against cheap competition from China.

So far the government has not been able to agree on a funding concept for the industry. Meyer Burger claims to have the largest solar module production company in Europe. 500 workers are employed at the Freiberg location, which will close at the end of April, the company says. The closure is scheduled to come into force in the first half of March. The company expects this to result in significant cost savings from April.
