Volkswagen is stopping production at its plant in Emden, East Frisia, for two days. Both the production of combustion engine models and electric cars affected.

Production of the Passat is scheduled to be relocated to the Bratislava plant in a few weeks. The Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) expects new registrations of electric cars to fall by 14 percent to 451,000 vehicles this year. The main reason was the sudden elimination of the state purchase premium, explained VDA chief economist Manuel Kallweit.
