The German Labour Party (GDL) has called for a new round of collective bargaining. The GDL wants to reduce the working week to 36 hours from the current 37.

The union has been in talks with the German government for more than a year. The current round of negotiations is expected to last until the end of the month, the GDL says. The German Labor Party says it will continue to fight for a 35-hour working week for all workers, including those who have been laid off.
