Federal government has agreed on a strategy for converting the German power plant fleet. Ten gigawatts of hydrogen-capable gas power plants should be funded as quickly as possible.

The reactors are to be converted completely to hydrogen between 2035 and 2040. The schedule for the switch should be decided by 2032. In the second step, a so-called capacity market is to be launched by 2028 at the latest. A secure, sustainable energy supply, including a rapid phase-out of coal, depends on the conversion of the power park.
