The flagship index of the Paris Stock Exchange, the CAC 40, exceeded the threshold of 8,000 points for the first time on Thursday. The market was encouraged by the European Central Bank (ECB) which lowered its forecast for inflation in the euro zone in 2025, to the level of its 2% target, presaging a relaxation of its policy in the coming months.

The CAC40 reached a high of 8.001.23 points on Thursday afternoon, and has climbed more than 18% since its low point at the end of October.
