Oprah Winfrey to resign from Weight Watchers supervisory board in May. She will donate all her shares to charity.
Winfrey has been taking medication to lose weight. Weight Watcher's shares fell more than 20 percent in after-hours trading following the announcement of Winfrey's departure. In the final quarter of 2023, there were 3.8 million members of the weight-loss group, down from 4 million in the previous quarter of 2013. The number of members has been declining for years.
