Number of unemployed in Germany rises in January. The unemployment rate rose by 0.4 points to 6.4 percent.
Taking seasonal effects into account, the number of unemployed fell by 2,000 month-on-month. 699,000 jobs were reported as open in January, 66,000 fewer than a year ago. The situation on the training market remains difficult. Many apprenticeships offered by companies cannot be filled. The development confirms the recent trend: it is becoming more difficult to find a job.
