The manufacturing purchasing managers index was 49.1%, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month. The non-manufacturing business activity index was 51.4%, up 0.7 percentage points.

Zhao Qinghe, a senior statistician at the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics, provided an interpretation. He said the manufacturing industry was in the traditional production off-season. The production and operation of enterprises were greatly affected, and the overall activity of the manufacturing market declined.
