Hamburg Senate wanted to decide on the future of the Köhlbrand Bridge this week. A dispute between the SPD and the Greens has now prevented this.

A decision was expected to build a new bridge, which at 4.5 to 5 billion euros would be cheaper than the tunnel solution long favored by the Senate. The bridge, completed in 1974, is used by around 38,000 vehicles every day, including many trucks. It is due to be replaced by 2036 due to overload and continued damage.
