Hamburg's Köhlbrand Bridge is almost 50 years old and dilapidated. The city speaks of it as a "technical and economic total loss" It will have to be replaced in the coming decades.

But how? The city's red-green Senate wants to decide on Tuesday what that could look like. The cable-stayed bridge, designed by civil engineer Paul Boué and architect Egon Jux, spans the 325-meter-wide Kölbrand.
