New EU anti-money laundering authority is based in Frankfurt. The authority is intended to combat money laundering and terrorist financing in the EU.

Frankfurt, Rome, Vienna, Vilnius, Riga, Dublin, Madrid, Brussels and Paris also applied as locations for the new authority. Three potential buildings have been reserved in Frankfurt for the Amla. Germany supported the project with ten million euros. The new authority will fundamentally change the fight against dirty money, EU Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis wrote on Twitter.
