Electricity and gas offers at the beginning of the year are cheaper than feared. A higher CO₂ price and rising network fees – that doesn't bode well for 2024.
But if you compare gas and electricity tariffs, you will find cheaper offers than a year ago. The relaxation on the electricity exchange is due to the fact that gas and coal are no longer as expensive as they were in 2022, immediately after Russia's attack on Ukraine. It also shows that wholesale electricity is cheap when many solar and wind farms feed in and few fossil power plants are needed.
