China wants to support its electric car industry in order to stabilize the People's Republic's foreign trade and make it easier to bring the vehicles overseas. A total of nine authorities, including the Ministry of Finance and the Foreign Office, also recommended setting up research and development centers abroad.

In Europe and the USA, Chinese e-car expansion plans are being watched critically. Tesla boss Elon Musk recently warned that Chinese automakers are so strong that without trade barriers, most of the industry would have no chance against them.
