Domestic shipments of white goods in January decreased by 5.4% compared to the same month last year, negative for the first time in three months. Growth continues to be sluggish due to a reaction to replacement demand three years ago.
By product, sales of air conditioners were 41.9 billion yen, an increase of 8.3%. Meanwhile, domestic shipments of consumer electronics such as televisions and car navigation systems were 78 billion yen last month, a 17.7% decrease.
