Bus and tram drivers are, on average, older than other employees. No wonder, in the coming years a particularly large number will reach retirement age.
This Friday, the Ver.di union is on strike in the local public transport of around 130 municipal companies. The proportion of women in employment in Germany as a whole was 47 percent in 2022. Almost a quarter of the drivers of buses and trams had foreign nationality, and this was the case for 14 percent of the population as a entire.
