Kane Tanaka of Fukuoka City, who is recognized as the oldest person in the world by the Guinness World Records, turned 117 years old and 261 days in 19 days, breaking the record of the oldest person in Japan.

Kane Tanaka of Fukuoka City was born on January 2, 1868, and will be 117 years old and 261 days old on the 19th.



According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, it has set a new record for Nabi Tajima of Kagoshima Prefecture, the oldest person in Japan who has died.



On the morning of the 19th, Governor Ogawa of Fukuoka Prefecture presented a congratulatory letter and a traditional craft of Fukuoka Prefecture, Kurume Kasuri's knees, to Mr. Tanaka, who lives in a facility for the elderly in Fukuoka City, through the staff of the facility.



Mr. Tanaka spread his knees, drank his favorite sparkling drink, gave a peace sign and banzai to the camera, and danced the Tankō Bushi, showing his energetic appearance.



In March of last year, Mr. Tanaka was certified as the "oldest person in the world in life" by the Guinness World Records.
