  China News Service, Hong Kong, March 22. Yang Runxiong, director of the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, posted on social platforms on the 22nd that the new crown vaccination rate of students in special schools has increased to more than 60%.

  Yang Runxiong mentioned that the epidemic situation is severe, and the Education Bureau aims to "fight as much as possible" to help school-age students get vaccinated against the new crown as soon as possible.

The Education Bureau is particularly concerned about students with weakened immune systems who are enrolled in special schools, and believes that vaccine protection is more important to them.

  Yang Runxiong said that the Education Bureau had earlier, through inter-departmental collaboration, arranged for special school students to go to the hospital for evaluation and vaccination, and vigorously promoted the "vaccine-funded school outreach" service.

  Recently, the Education Bureau assisted 10 special schools of different categories to hold vaccination campaigns, with a total of 80 students, parents and staff participating.

The Education Bureau also sent volunteer medical teams to 4 special schools with dormitory departments to vaccinate about 50 students and their parents.

Yang Runxiong said that the vaccination rate of students in special schools has risen to more than 60%.

  In addition to helping students get vaccinated, Yang Runxiong said that the Education Bureau also provided additional materials to 23 special schools with dormitory departments during February and March, including rapid antigen test kits, N95 masks, protective clothing, etc., totaling about 16,000 set.

The Education Bureau also helped distribute 13,000 rapid antigen test kits and 25,000 masks donated by various donors.

  Yang Runxiong mentioned that the vaccination rate of Hong Kong's youth aged 12 to 19 has exceeded 90%, and the SAR government hopes to increase the vaccination rate of children aged 3 to 11 to 90% by the end of April.
