The UAE and Israel sign a memorandum of understanding for mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccines

The UAE and the State of Israel signed a memorandum of understanding on the mutual recognition of vaccination certificates issued by the health authorities in the two countries, within the framework of cooperation and joint coordination between them to move forward towards recovery from the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This comes within the framework of the two parties' keenness to facilitate the movement of individuals and achieve the desired goals of vaccination campaigns for different groups of society, which contributed to achieving the best global rates for the two countries in the proportion of those vaccinated.

The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding took place via video communication technology by Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Community Protection, and Nitzan Horvits, the Israeli Minister of Health, in the presence of a number of senior officials from both sides.

Based on this memorandum, the concerned authorities in the two countries will be able to develop procedures for the movement of individuals who have received the vaccine without restrictions, as part of the efforts of the governments of the two countries to facilitate the safe movement of travelers in light of the conditions of movement due to the Covid 19 pandemic, while this cooperation and coordination supports their efforts to combat and overcome the pandemic.

Abdul Rahman Al Owais stressed that this memorandum comes within the framework of the cooperation agreement concluded by the two countries to enhance coordination in large-scale health projects, unify efforts and exchange experiences in confronting global pandemics, and employing digital health, artificial intelligence, innovation and developments in personalized medicine, in promoting health care in accordance with international best practices.
