The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS), which reports to the Ministry of Health, has announced that it will investigate a Mercadona sun cream after the complaint of a user via Twitter.

This consumer claims in her tweet that she was burned after exposing herself to the sun with the cream from the supermarket. The supermarket chain has contacted the user to find out in what circumstances these burns occurred, if she still had the cream, the batch number, if she had any medical report that corroborated that the burns were due to a problem with the product, etc ... but this one did not have the relevant documentation either.

On the same social network, the Spanish Medicines Agency assures that it is going to start an investigation into the cream. It is common for the body to carry out these analyzes when a user reports a product, although this does not mean that there is a problem with it. This is what the Agency calls "cosmetovigilance".

Every year around this time there is controversy with sun creams. Last year something similar happened with one of the Isdin brand, after the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) reported, after analyzing several cream firms, that it protected less than it said.

Just a few weeks ago, the OCU published a report on the best sun creams on the market and one from Mercadona and another from Lidl were, according to this analysis, one of the most effective.

In addition, the main conclusion of this year's analysis (the OCU conducts an annual one) is that all the analyzed products fulfill their function of protecting against solar radiation well: both the SPF and the UVA protection values ​​comply with the indicated on the labeling.

It is the first time this has happened in the last four years, according to the OCU. "For less than six euros you can already buy a good quality cream in all the segments analyzed," the document assures.
