• Covid-19 The Autonomous Communities reduce hospital pressure despite the fact that infections increase

The Ministry of Health has notified this Tuesday, with data provided by the autonomous communities,

42,272 new cases of coronavirus, of which 21,594 have occurred in people over 60 years of age,

which brings the total number of infections in Spain to 12,280,345. since the start of the pandemic.

A lower figure than the previous record, 52,112 new cases last Friday and even the lowest count for the entire month of May.

Regarding the current average incidence of infections, Spain continues to be at "medium risk" by accounting for

800.47 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants,

according to the indicators for risk assessment established by Health.

A final report that marks a significant decrease in infections in the autonomies.

Catalonia

6,140 (with 9,583 last Friday),

Andalusia

with 4,096 (8,941 three days ago),

Madrid

reaches 6,600 (compared to 8,616 in the previous report) and

the Valencian Community

accounts for 4,728 (with 5,896 on Friday).

The rest of the Autonomous Communities do not exceed 4,000 infections.

Currently,

7,364 patients admitted

for covid-19 have been reported throughout Spain, the same mark as in the last report.

The data indicates that

there are 364 in the ICU.

The hospital situation continues on the right track since last week when the hospital occupancy rate

per 100,000 inhabitants

was halved compared to previous reports.

The regions of

Asturias with 22.26 and Castilla y León with 27.43

left the red light that they had entered at the beginning of May with 32.91 and 31.56 people admitted per 100,000 inhabitants.

The same has happened with Galicia (24.90), Cantabria (11.51) and Murcia (18.40), all of them have returned to 'medium risk', according to Health values.

The

bed occupancy rate remains at 5.94%, from the previous report, and in the ICU at 4.07%.

The indicators for risk assessment established by the Ministry show that the country's hospital situation is "low risk" with 14.83 new admissions per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 7 days, when Health determines that the risk is controlled when it is less than 5.

As for those

who died from Covid-19, 301 have been reported in this latest report,

51 fewer people than three days ago.

This makes the global death toll from coronavirus in Spain rise to 106,105 people.

Meanwhile, the positivity rate, that is, the percentage of people who test positive among all those who take the PCR test in a given time.

This indicator has dropped to 31.05% after several weeks maintaining the same mark.

Cab recalls that the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that this percentage be below 5%.

A percentage equal to or less than this figure indicates that the spread of the virus is controlled, as long as the diagnostic measures and strategies are carried out properly and as indicated by the international organization.
