According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan last month was estimated at 27,400, a significant decrease of 98.9% compared to the same month last year, this March. Since then, it has continued to decline by more than 90% for eight consecutive months.



By country or region, Vietnam has 6,200 people, China has 4,500 people, South Korea has 2,000 people, Thailand has 1,400 people, and Taiwan has 1,300 people, with Asian countries occupying the top positions.



This statistic also includes cases where international students and technical intern trainees who lived in Japan re-entered Japan, and most of them are considered to be such cases.



To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, the Government of Japan has taken border measures such as refusing foreigners from 152 countries and regions to enter the country.



The government has gradually relaxed restrictions such as resuming traffic to and from Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam for short-term residents such as business trips, but the spread of infection has re-emerged mainly in Europe. The situation is such that the recovery of tourists cannot be expected for the time being, such as becoming more serious.
