The city of Masevaux (Haut-Rhin) was awarded this Monday as part of the competition for the most beautiful shopping city centers in France, organized by the association of showcases of France, reports France 3 Grand-Est

.

The municipalities had to send a single photo representing the center of the village.

Masevaux obtained the 5th prize in the category of small towns and villages.

"We are of course delighted, especially since the choice of the photo was complicated", explains Aurore Prax, president of the association of traders in Masevaux.

The association called on a professional photographer for the occasion.

"Local shops are the soul of our city centers"

This competition was organized to restore the image of small local shops, often undermined by the appearance of large shopping areas.

“The first edition of our photo competition was a real success and showed the attachment of the French to their city centers!

After difficult months linked to the health context, it reminded us that local shops are the soul of our city centers ”, rejoices Jean-Pierre Lehmann, president of the Association des Vitrines de France.
