The heritage section of the judicial police of the Civil Guard of Pontevedra investigates the disappearance of

two valuable paintings by the French painter Edgar Degas

in a villa in Nigrán (Pontevedra).

The investigation, as confirmed by sources from the armed institute, began as a result of the complaint filed at the

Baiona

post by its owner.

The residence from which both paintings allegedly disappeared is in Monteferro, an area of

exclusive chalets

in this tourist town.

The two paintings disappeared from the house of their owner when he was on a trip.

The painter, sculptor and engraver

Edgar Degas

(1934-1917) is considered to be one of the fathers of Impressionism and his works, some of which reach prices of millions of euros in the most prestigious auction houses in the world, are among the most sought after by collectors.
