A study showed that the chorions of 16 pregnant women who had been diagnosed with Covid-19 during normal tests in a Chicago hospital between March 15 and May 5, suggesting that women with the Corona virus may need careful monitoring during pregnancy.

Fifteen women, including healthy babies, aborted one, and tests confirmed that none of the living children had Covid-19, a disease caused by the emerging coronavirus.

The study found that 12 of these women, or 80 percent of them, had a type of infection that could disrupt blood flow from the mother to the fetus called poor vascular flow and six of them or 40 percent had blood clots in the placenta.

"These results support the possibility that something in
the corona virus is clots and that occurs in the placenta," hospital physician and physician Jeffrey Goldstein told Reuters .
