Bergrheinfeld (dpa / lby) - The transmission network operator TransnetBW wants to take another important step in the coming weeks for the construction of the Suedlink wind power line in Lower Franconia.
For example, an application is to be submitted to the Federal Network Agency to open the plan approval procedure for the section from Mellrichstadt (Rhön-Grabfeld district) to Bergrheinfeld (Schweinfurt district).
"Then we go into the detailed planning," said a TransnetBW spokesman for the German press agency.
In a plan approval procedure, individual issues relating to development or noise and environmental protection are examined.
Then it is determined where what can be built with which conditions.
Private individuals can raise objections - for example, the depreciation of land due to the electricity project.
The procedure ends with a plan approval decision, a kind of building permit.
Opponents of such construction projects can still go to court against such a decision.
The wind power will travel from the north to the south via new high-voltage direct current connections such as Suedlink.
Suedlink is to lead from southern Schleswig-Holstein west of Hanover and Göttingen via northern Hesse and southern Thuringia to Bergrheinfeld in Lower Franconia and the Großgartach substation near Heilbronn.

Citizens' initiatives against the plans have formed in many places across the country, for example for environmental reasons or because of fears that the value of one's own property could fall if a power cable crosses it.
"The corridor is fixed for all of Bavaria," said the TransnetBW spokesman.
Only underground cables are to be laid here.
For the section between Oerlenbach (Bad Kissingen district) and Altertheim (Würzburg district), TransnetBW submitted the application for planning approval in mid-November.
Such requests contain suggestions about the possible course of the line and alternatives.
Objections to this section can now be submitted to the Federal Network Agency until January 15, 2021.
Suedlink, a total of around 700 kilometers in length and half of which is also operated by the network operator Tennet, will not be ready until 2026 at the earliest and could cost around ten billion euros, among other things because of the underground cables that are much more expensive than overhead lines.

Nationwide, the network operators have received more than 7,000 objections and references from associations, municipalities or those affected to the project in the previous federal technical planning, as the spokesman said.
TransnetBW and Tennet have all checked and answered.
As things currently stand, construction work in Lower Franconia will start at the end of 2022 / beginning of 2023 at the earliest.
Among other things, a vineyard is to be drilled through at Thüngersheim (Würzburg district) and the Main to be crossed.
