British-born Australian singer and actress Olivia Newton-John died Monday, August 8 at the age of 73, according to a message posted on her Instagram account.

She had been battling breast cancer for 30 years.

"Dame Olivia Newton-John passed away peacefully at her ranch in California this morning, surrounded by family and friends," the post read.

Olivia Newton-John was best known for playing the role of Sandy Olson in the movie "Grease" alongside John Travolta.
