The fire of a crematorium in a cemetery in Schwäbisch Hall caused a lot of damage during the night of Thursday. According to initial estimates, this amounts to about 1.5 million euros, said a police spokesman. The whole building, where the dead are cremated, is affected by the fire.
No one was injured, according to initial findings. It was probably about 20 deaths for cremation in the crematorium - but they were largely intact, it said.
The cause of the fire is unclear. At night, the forces were still on site, the fire department was still busy with firefighting. The fire had penetrated deep into the walls, it was said.
