On July 19, in Anduo County, Tibet Autonomous Region, with an average elevation of 5,200 meters, a unique theatrical performance and policy publicity event was held in Zhuoge Community, Pana Town.

Baima, a community resident who had just watched the three dances of "Rachamu", "Mangkangreba" and "Guozhuang", was very excited, because it was his turn to take the stage to give lectures on mass education practices.

Baima, 33, is a native of Tandui Township, Anduo County.

At the end of 2017, he and his family bid farewell to the 30-square-meter rammed-earth house in the pastoral area and moved to Zhuoge Community in the county seat.

In the pastoral area of Tandui Township, the Baima family lived by guarding 14 yaks, with an annual income of less than 4,000 yuan, and they belonged to the poor households with registered cards.

In October 2016, Amdo County and Tandui Township organized poor households to participate in skills training in Nagqu City, and Baima was the first to register.

After successfully obtaining the level 5 qualification certificate for excavation, scraping and piling machinery, Baima has a new job, and the family's annual income is more than 20,000 yuan.

"Without the good policies of the party and government, I would not be able to live a happy life today." Baima said.

Before the peaceful liberation of Tibet, more than 90% of the people did not have their own houses, and even many serfs lived in sheds with livestock for their entire lives.

In the 70 years since Tibet's peaceful liberation, the social system has achieved a historic leap, and the production and living conditions of the people of all ethnic groups have been greatly improved.

In 2020, the per capita housing area of Tibetan farmers and herdsmen will reach 41.46 square meters, and the per capita housing area of urban residents will reach 33.4 square meters.

The relocation of poverty alleviation and relocation has allowed many people to live and work in peace and contentment.

However, leaving the pastoral area, what will depend on for a long-term stable source of income?

The 57-year-old Soba has four people in his family. By joining an agricultural cooperative, he sells more than 1,500 kilograms of milk and hundreds of kilograms of beef each year, achieving an income increase of more than 13,000 yuan.

If the income from selling wool and going out to work is included, the annual income of the Soba family can reach 30,000 yuan.

“In order for herders to move down from high-altitude pastoral areas to live in resettlement communities, apart from skills training, they still need to rely on industrial poverty alleviation.” said Oga Cipei, head of the Panazaregin dairy product processing and sales cooperative. Integrate scattered resources and increase the added value of agricultural products by processing yogurt, cheese, and ghee.

In 2020, the net income of cooperatives was 85,500 yuan, and 82 poor households received nearly 50,000 yuan in industrial poverty alleviation income.

The changes brought about by the relocation of poverty alleviation are also reflected in the life of "one old and one small".

After moving from the pastoral area to Zhuoge community, Tashi Tsering, the child of Nico family, successfully entered the second complete elementary school in Anduo County.

"The average temperature in the pastoral area in winter is close to minus 30 degrees Celsius, and it is often windy and snowy. It is very inconvenient for children to go to school. Now that they have moved to the resettlement community, the children’s school and living conditions have greatly improved, and the whole family can also be reimbursed for medical treatment in proportion. Thanks to the relocation policy for poverty alleviation," Nico said.

By the end of 2020, Tibet has built 964 relocation sites for poverty alleviation in areas with low altitude and suitable for production and living, more than 60,000 resettlement houses have been completed, and 266,000 people have moved to new homes.
