The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has partially stopped AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccination.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said at an expert advisory meeting of the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team that the vaccination that was supposed to start this week will be delayed and that vaccinations under the age of 60 will be withheld for the time being.

Corona 19 vaccinations for special education and childcare, health teachers and daycare center nurses, which were scheduled to start tomorrow, have been postponed.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explained that it will decide whether to resume vaccination after confirming the results of a review of the association between the AstraZeneca vaccine and the occurrence of specific blood clots at the European Medicines Agency's general meeting, which will be held until the 9th.

In Korea, a woman in her twenties got a blood clot in her lungs and legs after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. So far, three people have been diagnosed with thrombosis after receiving this vaccine.

Commissioner Eun-kyung Chung explained that the vaccination was preemptively postponed and withheld, considering the safety of vaccinations as a top priority, but it is pointed out that the sudden delay of vaccination a day before the vaccination starts increases distrust and causes confusion.
