It all started at the start of the health crisis: car manufacturers sharply reduced their activities during the first containment and therefore limited their supply of electronic supplies. During the recovery, other sectors of activity were considered priorities for the supply of semiconductors, which resulted in a shortage in the automotive industry. The problem is, these are ubiquitous in the manufacture of cars, which has caused production delays. It is also estimated that 5 million vehicles have not been produced since the start of the crisis. At Porsche, we seem to have found a temporary solution to this problem. In an interview with the daily Stuttgarter Zeitung, Olivier Blume, boss of Porsche, stated that the cars were still delivered but with dummy microchips. Devoid of certain electronic functions, they will be put back in order during the replenishment. An extreme situation with an unprecedented crisis!
