Niigata Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant Unit 7 Nuclear Regulatory Commission finishes checking documents October 15, 4:16

Regarding Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit 7 in Niigata Prefecture, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has completed a detailed check of documents such as the earthquake resistance of equipment.

TEPCO is expected to complete the necessary procedures for restarting, such as countermeasure construction for Unit 7 and national inspections, in the spring of next year.

Last month, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved the "Safety Regulations" that specify the president's responsibility for the accident regarding the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, which TEPCO aims to restart.

The Regulatory Commission has completed the check of detailed documents such as the earthquake resistance of the equipment among the regulatory procedures left at Unit 7, which is ahead of the work, and approved it on the 14th, saying that there is no problem with the contents.

As a result, all countermeasure construction based on regulatory standards can be carried out, and TEPCO has indicated a plan to complete the construction next month.

Subsequent inspections by the NRA are expected to be completed in April next year, and Unit 7 is expected to complete the necessary procedures for restarting.

After that, the focus will be on whether local governments such as Niigata Prefecture agree to restart.
