Narko, dog of the Gard gendarmerie, will taste a deserved retirement after 10 years of brilliant service. - Gendarmerie du Gard

His muzzle has been whitened by 10 years of service and nearly 1,000 missions accomplished. Member of the police canine investigation group (GIC) of the Gard gendarmerie, Narko is going to retire, says his employer on his Facebook page. The 11-year-old Malinois was assigned to research narcotics and banknotes.

His flair has helped investigators since 2010, since he discovered several hundred kilograms of drugs and almost 4 million euros in cash. Including 2.2 million euros in a single search.

Decorated with the bronze medal of National Defense, Narko the aptly named will not be too disoriented despite the cessation of his activity. It is his current master who will keep it during his old age.
