The previous maximum indicators were recorded the day before - 32,196 and 999.

Over the past 24 hours, 21,883 people have fully recovered.

At the same time, the largest number of new cases of coronavirus were registered in Moscow (6545), St. Petersburg (3088) and the Moscow region (2403). 

The total number of COVID-19 cases registered in the country has reached 7,958,384. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 6,981,907 patients have recovered in Russia, and 222,315 people have died. 

Rospotrebnadzor reported that more than 200 million laboratory tests have already been carried out in the country for the presence of the virus.

The day before, the department also announced a reduction in the maximum period for providing citizens with coronavirus test results from 48 to 24 hours.

"The term for performing a laboratory test for COVID-19 should not exceed 24 hours from the moment the biological material arrives at the laboratory until the person in question has received the result," the text of the document says.

These are data on vaccination of the population and the achievement of herd immunity, as well as a heat map on the epidemiological situation, both in the Russian Federation as a whole and in the regions, ”she said.

According to her, the relevant data will be updated on a weekly basis based on the average weekly rates of morbidity and vaccination in the country.

So, according to the operational headquarters for combating coronavirus infection, as of October 15, 47,558,639 people underwent a full course of vaccination against COVID-19 in Russia.

51,018,767 people were vaccinated with the first component of one of the Russian vaccines.

The collective immunity against the virus in the country, according to the headquarters, is currently 45%.

Moreover, the level of herd immunity in Moscow and the Moscow region exceeds 60%.

5,199,951 people were vaccinated with the first component of the COVID-19 vaccine in the capital, and 4,784,127 citizens received the full course of vaccinations.

In the Moscow region, 3,615,457 people received the first component of the drug, and 3,436,225 completed vaccination.

At the same time, according to the data of the capital's headquarters, 1,441 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized in Moscow per day, 628 people are on mechanical ventilation.

During this time, 72 patients died in the city, all of them were diagnosed with pneumonia and received a positive test result for COVID-19.

According to Natalya Pshenichnaya, Deputy Director for Clinical and Analytical Work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, the reason for the increase in the incidence of coronavirus was the predicted seasonal rise, to which was added the spread of the delta strain, known to be more infectious.

According to her, earlier one patient infected two or three people, but because of the new strain, the number of cases of transmission of infection reaches five to six.

COVID-19 vaccines
