China News Service, July 23. Ma Youxiang, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said on the 23rd that African swine fever is a major test we face. If the slaughter process is tightened, the meat products will be safe to enter the market.

On the 23rd, the State Council Information Office held a regular policy briefing of the State Council to introduce the revised "Regulations on the Administration of Pig Slaughter".

At the meeting, a reporter asked questions and said that in recent years, the African swine fever epidemic has had a greater impact on my country's pig industry. What are the considerations for the prevention and control of slaughter-linked animal diseases in the Regulations?

Ma Youxiang said that since the occurrence of African swine fever, it has indeed had a relatively large impact on China's pig production, and has also greatly promoted and changed the production method.

"African swine fever is a major test we are facing. Judging from the situation in the past two years, the transformation and upgrading of the industry is accelerating, and so is the slaughter link. If the slaughter link is tightened, the meat products will be safe to enter the market. If this check is not done well, the meat products that enter the market may fall through, so we pay special attention to the slaughtering process."

First, we must strengthen disease surveillance, epidemic investigation and reporting.

Currently, self-inspection of African swine fever is to be carried out. The slaughterhouse must have the conditions for disease detection, report it when it is discovered, and deal with any problems, and establish a self-inspection system.

The second is other inspection, that is, national inspection.

The country sends veterinarians for quarantine. Depending on the scale of slaughter, the number of official veterinarians required is different. The larger the scale, the greater the number of official veterinarians. This is the mandatory national veterinary quarantine.

The meat can only leave the factory after passing the quarantine.

  The third is guidance.

In this regard, we must consider the actual situation of pig breeding, animal disease prevention and control, and pig product consumption, scientific layout, centralized slaughter, favorable circulation, and convenience for the masses.

Nowadays, the pig production area and the slaughter area are not unified, so a large number of live pigs are pulled to a slaughterhouse in another place for slaughter. The northeast may be transported to southern China, and the Xinjiang may also be transported to southern China.

Ma Youxiang further stated that through planning, we will strive to match the capacity of pig breeding and pig slaughter. Local raising and local slaughtering will change from "transporting pigs" to "transporting meat" to reduce the risk of disease transmission.

In addition, the integrated development of enterprises is encouraged to engage in both breeding and slaughter, so as to reduce the risk of disease transmission in the slaughter process.
