Iran brought together the foreign ministers of the countries neighboring Afghanistan, in particular Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan but also by video conference Russia and China, to try to coordinate their position vis-à-vis the Taliban .

This meeting took place in the absence of the Taliban who were not invited to Tehran.
In a joint statement, the seven countries called for the establishment of a power and a government comprising all components of Afghan society, as Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said.
"
Neighboring countries and the community must help the current authority in charge of power in Afghanistan to integrate other communities into power so that all Afghans can go through this difficult situation in national unity
", said the Minister. head of Iranian diplomacy.
For the countries gathered in Tehran, there is no question for the moment of officially recognizing the new power of the Taliban.
The seven countries are also concerned about the human rights situation, the fate of women but also
growing poverty
and the risk of displacement of populations.
Iran and Pakistan fear in fact the massive arrival of new refugees when they are already welcoming millions of Afghans on their soil.
