In Port-Vendres (Pyrénées-Orientales), smoking is now prohibited around schools in the town.

It is the new mayor of the seaside resort, Grégory Marty (various right), who issued a decree to this effect.

“For the sake of public health, prevention and setting an example for children attending schools (…), explains the elected official, I decided to issue a decree banning smoking around schools.

These areas are now considered “tobacco-free space”.

"

Signs have been installed near schools to indicate the regulations.

Verifications (35 euros) could be drawn up, but only "in the most extreme situations", explains France Bleu Roussillon.

The mayor relies first "on prevention".
