In September 2018, business manager Alain Sitbon and Rhône deputy Jean-Louis Touraine announced the launch, in 2019, of the first four mobile medical offices in France, in Ain, Ardèche, Haute-Loire and the Rhône. The project, intended to stem "medical deserts", did not wait for the Covid-19 health crisis to be seriously slowed down. Only the health center of Givors (Rhône) was thus presented, this Monday, before its official opening in a month.
"You cannot imagine the number of authorizations that we had to obtain, in particular from the order of doctors and the Regional Health Agency," says Jean-Louis Touraine, president of the association managing solutions fixed and mobile medical services (Aceso). By discovering our concept, some people may have feared that it was a discount medicine, which is really not the case. No more than fairground medicine, obviously prohibited in France. "

Faced with these fears, the creation of a medical center, in addition to the mobile office, was therefore essential to distinguish Aceso "from charlatans delivering poor quality care before fleeing to a neighboring town". Three general practitioners, as well as a specialist doctor and two nurses will welcome patients from the end of July in these new 140 m2 premises in the heart of Givors.
Why did you choose this city of 20,000 inhabitants, located 30 km from Lyon? "It should not be thought that only rural areas are affected in France," says Renaud Gauquelin, medical director of Aceso. 80% of the suburbs have also become under-equipped areas with access to healthcare. "A statement shared in Givors by Dalila Haoues, a liberal nurse who joined the association:" There are only nine general practitioners and a pediatrician in Givors, and four of them will retire in the next two years . It is no longer tenable, patients have to wait two weeks before obtaining a doctor's appointment. "
A second launch in Normandy by October
It is in this context that Dok'ici, the first van designed as a consultation room, with an examination table and disabled access, will come into play for the return to school in September, in order to visit a dozen municipalities within a radius of 30 km around Givors. With an Internet reservation system and agreed rates (with third-party payment), this van will be the great curiosity of this project with the total annual budget estimated at 750,000 euros. General consultations will therefore be offered by Aceso, particularly in districts of Givors.
"We are essentially moving towards geriatrics and the reception of disabled people with this new concept," specifies Renaud Gauquelin, ex-mayor of Rillieux-la-Pape (Rhône) and former deputy. In a second step, one can also imagine specialized consultations such as rheumatology or dermatology. The Dok'ici Rhodanien should see its little brother launched by October in the territories of the Orne (Normandy).
The health center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 8 to 12 a.m. on Saturday.
