Ibaraki Prefecture and Mito City announced on the 1st that 202 new people have been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
This is the second highest number of daily announcements to date, after 222 on July 30, and the highest number on Sunday.
This brings the number of infected people in Ibaraki prefecture to 12,663.
Ibaraki Prefecture also announced that one man in his thirties, who had been confirmed to be infected, had died.
Infection with the new coronavirus was confirmed in Ibaraki prefecture, and 169 people died.
