42,000 cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours in France, before a Defense Council

Statistics confirm the virulence of the 5th wave of coronavirus every week. More than 42,000 new cases of Covid-19 contamination have been detected in the past 24 hours and more than 2,000 people are in critical care, according to figures from Public Health France on Sunday. Importantly, over the past seven days, the average of new daily cases stands at 42,459, down from less than 28,000 a week ago. To try once again to find answers to this crisis, the government is meeting on Monday a Health Defense Council. This should in particular examine the possibility of opening vaccination to 5-11 years. Government spokesman Gabriel Attal, on the other hand, ruled out the return of the gauges. The new measures should be announced by Prime Minister Jean Castex in person at the end of the Council in the morning.

In a desire to unite, Pécresse launches his campaign at Ciotti

If one word were to sum up the agenda of the week which opens for Valérie Pécresse it would be: Unity.

And for her first campaign trip, the LR candidate will indeed play the card of bringing her political family together.

For this it will be on the land of Eric Ciotti, who is putting pressure to stay on course to the right.

After a private lunch in Nice, the two finalists of the LR primary will go to Saint-Martin-Vésubie where they will lay a wreath in memory of the victims of the storm Alex at the end of 2020, before a joint public meeting.

The following days will also be under the sign of this unity, since Valérie Pécresse should go to the stronghold of her beaten competitors, and in particular Friday at Xavier Bertrand in Hauts-de-France.

By taking Delphine Batho as spokesperson, Yannick Jadot turns the page Orphan

Yannick Jadot's team to try to conquer the Elysée is once again complete.

The deputy for Deux-Sèvres Delphine Batho, a former rival in the primary of the ecologists, was appointed on Sunday the campaign spokesperson for the EELV presidential candidate.

She replaces in this post Matthieu Orphelin, a close friend of the former minister Nicolas Hulot accused of rape and sexual assault.

His withdrawal on November 27 was to allow him to freely conduct his communication on the Hulot affair and above all to prevent Yannick Jadot's campaign from being disrupted.

But this decision had provoked a pass of arms internally, between the management of EELV and Matthieu Orphelin, who said he was "dirty" and had put this choice on the account of strategic differences with the candidate.
