Are we coming to the end of the cycle of democratization in West Africa?

With the coup d'état in Guinea, which follows those which took place in Mali, and tensions surrounding the elections in many other countries in the sub-region, supporters of liberal ideas are worried.

Weak institutions, exacerbated presidentialism, security challenges, complacent Western partners and uninhibited authoritarian regimes ... The root causes of crises are multiple.

To talk about it, François Mazet joined the Senegalese Alioune Tine, founder of the Afrikajom Center think tank, which works on organizations and institutions in Africa.
