“The ban on cryptocurrencies proposed by the Central Bank of Russia will lead to an outflow of IT specialists from the country and destroy a number of industries in the high-tech economy,” Durov wrote on Telegram.

In his opinion, the ban on cryptocurrencies in the country will inevitably slow down the development of blockchain technologies.

Earlier, the Central Bank announced possible measures to tighten regulation of the cryptocurrency market in Russia.

In particular, the regulator proposes to ban the mining, issue and exchange of digital money, as well as to block any transactions with electronic coins using the country's financial infrastructure.
