A carnage was predicted for companies that were victims of the health crisis.
However, the exact opposite is happening.
Last year, 27,285 companies entered receivership or liquidation proceedings.
This is 12.7% less than the previous year.
How to explain these extraordinary figures?

The dreaded wave of corporate bankruptcies has not happened.
Better still, the figures unveiled on January 12 by the Banque de France show that only 27,285 companies entered into receivership or judicial liquidation proceedings last year, in the midst of a health crisis.
This is 12.7% less than in 2020.
Figures not seen since 1986
40,000 bankruptcy filings have been avoided in two years, or about 120,000 jobs preserved, according to estimates by Altares, the expert group in business data.
We must therefore go back to 1986 to find such low failure figures.
Ease of payment of tax charges, absence of forced collection... These factors contributed to this exceptional result, explains Thierry Millon, director of studies at Antares.
40,000 failures for 2022
"These billions in aid helped save healthy businesses, of course, but also saved less viable businesses that would have fallen had it not been for the crisis. Unfortunately, the default level of 30,000 per year is abnormal. We will therefore find in 2022 a higher level of failures, without however finding the usual level of 50,000", he warns at the microphone of Europe 1.

Altares estimates the figure to come for 2022 at 40,000. The trend intensified last December with the gradual disconnection of certain aid.
The situation is particularly fragile for construction companies and car garages.
