Michiaki Watanabe, a composer known for making a lot of music for anime and special effects such as "Mazinger Z" and "Himitsu Sentai Gorenger", died at a hospital in Tokyo on the 23rd of this month due to aging.

He was 96 years old.

Mr. Watanabe was born in Aichi prefecture, aspired to be a composer while attending the University of Tokyo, studied composition under Ikuma Dan and Saburo Moroi, who are known as international composers. And made his debut as a composer.



After that, he moved his base of activities to Tokyo and began to work on movie music. Since the 1970s, he has been in charge of many animations and special effects works such as "Mazinger Z" and "Himitsu Sentai Gorenger", and Mr. Watanabe weaves them. The unique melody is called "Soramei-bushi" and was highly evaluated both at home and abroad.



Even after he was 90 years old, he continued to play an active role as a composer, and the songs produced by Mr. Watanabe have been loved by many people across generations.
