Beware... these foods raise your bad cholesterol levels!

The Emirates Foundation for Health Services has warned against following an unhealthy diet, which may result in a rise in unhealthy cholesterol levels in the blood, stressing the need for physical activity and avoiding excessive eating of unhealthy foods.

The Foundation explained that there are a group of foods that may cause an increase in unhealthy cholesterol levels in the blood, including "full-fat dairy products, milk products, butter, yogurt, full-fat cheese, red meat, processed meat, fried foods, baked goods and sweets."

She pointed out that there are factors that increase the risk of developing unhealthy cholesterol levels, which are "unhealthy nutrition through eating a lot of saturated or trans fats, obesity, lack of physical activity, smoking."


She pointed out that there are healthy foods that may contain a high percentage of cholesterol, but they do not increase the risk of heart disease, including "eggs, lean meats, seafood such as shrimp, oysters and crabs."
