Recently, the staff of Sichuan Fengtongzhai National Nature Reserve in Baoxing County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province found that an infrared camera had captured a scene of suspected mating of wild animal red pandas while collecting and sorting out infrared camera data.
This video was taken on February 6, 2021. The bamboo forest in Fengtongzhai National Nature Reserve is still covered with thick white snow. Two adult red pandas find a piece of open and flat snow to hug each other. The male red panda Biting the female red panda's neck from behind, it seems to be crawling and mating.
According to reports, the gestation period of the red panda is 118-155 days.
If the two red pandas in the video are indeed mating and successfully conceive and give birth, in June and July when the climate is warm and there is sufficient food, the bamboo forest will usher in 1 or 2 new small lives and expand the population of wild red pandas.
It is reported that, as a second-level national key protected animal, there are not many red pandas in the wild.
This precious picture of red pandas suspected of mating in the bamboo forest can not only provide data for scientific research on the behavior of red pandas in the wild, but also show that the wildlife protection in Fengtongzhai National Nature Reserve has achieved remarkable results.
