　　Zhang Ganer, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at Xiamen University, died on May 3, 2020, at the age of 93.

　　Zhang Ganer was born on August 15, 1928 in Huian, Fujian. Admitted to the Department of Chemistry of Xiamen University in 1947; stayed as a teacher after graduating from the Graduate Department of Chemistry of Xiamen University in 1954, successively served as lecturer, associate professor, and professor, and dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Xiamen University; Institute director. In 1991, he was elected as a member (academician) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

　　In the early years, Zhang Ganer participated in the research of cultivating crystals in aqueous solutions and developing cameras for powder diffractometers. In 1963, he made breakthroughs in the theoretical research of the coordination field.
